Role: Safety Supervisor

Reports to: Site Manager | Type: Seasonal, Employee | Compensation: Contract


About the Position

The Safety Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the well-being and safety of all athletes. Working closely with the Site Manager, they oversee dorm supervision, support in the enforcement of camp rules, and respond to safety concerns that arise. During gym sessions, they support the coaching staff by monitoring activity flow and assisting where needed. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dorm supervision during non-class hours, ensuring athlete safety, adherence to camp rules, and accurate attendance.
  • Conduct regular patrols of dorms and common areas, maintaining a visible and proactive presence, especially during evening hours.
  • Support the Site Manager in upholding safety protocols, responding to incidents, and ensuring emergency procedures are followed when needed.
  • Track Director Quality Assurance Metrics during gym sessions, monitor athlete engagement, and assist at baskets as needed.
  • Observe and connect with athletes who may be injured, frustrated, or need additional support, fostering a positive and caring environment.
  • Communicate dorm-related updates and safety announcements during gym sessions.
  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with the Site Manager to improve safety practices and camp operations.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Experience as a teacher, educator, or coach in a school or community sports environment.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification from a recognized Canadian provider on or before April 26, 2026.
  • Leadership experience or supervisory skills in a camp setting. 
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergencies.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience as a PGC observing coach or PGC Coaching Member.
  • Previous experience working in a camp environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.

Working Conditions

  • Walking: Capability to walk long distances across the college campus between dorms, classrooms, and the gym for 5 consecutive days.
  • Standing: Endurance to stand for extended periods during check-in, check-out, and gym training sessions.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and/or transport equipment and boxes up to 40 pounds.
