Role: Basketball Instructor (BI)

Reports to: Camp Director | Type: Seasonal, Contract | Compensation: Contract


About the Position

A Basketball Instructor (BI) at PGC Basketball is more than just a coach. BIs are leaders, mentors, and role models who shape the next generation of players. Under the direction of the Director, BIs help athletes elevate their basketball IQ, improve their game, and develop as leaders on and off the court. If you're passionate about basketball and committed to making a real impact on players' lives, this is the role for you.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and positive role modeling to players on and off the court.

  • Oversee a group of 16~21 players on-court and provide timely feedback, reminders, and encouragement.

  • Assist with demonstrations of PGC concepts and habits on court.

  • Provide supervision in the dorms and assist with other off-court duties.

  • Create a strong connection with players on and off the court, including during meals.


 

Qualifications

  • In great shape and able to demonstrate basketball fundamentals at a high level OR a seasoned basketball coach.

  • Ability to maintain an unwavering, infectious energy for five days.

  • Ability to connect and build rapport with male and female athletes.

  • Ability to be a positive role model and leader who inspires, encourages, and brings out the best in others.

  • Ability to give meaningful feedback to players to help them improve.

  • Ability to work as a 1099 contractor for the term of your contract.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $500 per residential camp (upon successful completion of a training week).

  • $400 per day camp (upon successful completion of a training week).

  • $100 per camp worked bonus opportunity if criteria is met.

Working Conditions

  • For residential (overnight) camps, stay on campus with staff and athletes for the duration of the session. For day camps, PGC will arrange lodging for the staff near the facility.

  • Ability to actively demonstrate basketball skills and techniques, including shooting, dribbling, and passing.

  • Ability to walk and be on your feet during all gym training sessions while engaging with participants throughout the gym for 5 consecutive days. 

  • Ability to walk long distances between dorms, classrooms, and the gym. 

  • Ability to lift and/or transport equipment and boxes up to 40 pounds.
